Dr. Shahid Mehmood has taken up the charge of Vice Chairperson of Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab and has started his regular work. Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Bazdar had appointed Dr Shahid Mahmood as the new Vice Chairperson of the Punjab Overseas Pakistanis Commission. Dr Shahid Mahmood hails from Kamalia and has lived in the UK for the last 12 years. Dr Shahid Mehmood is the first Pakistani to be a qualified health economist from the UK. He holds an MBBS degree from Nishtar Medical College Multan and Master degrees in Health Economics, Policy and Management from the London School of Economics and an MRCP in General Medicine and Neurology. Dr. Shahid Mehmood has also been the Focal Person of the Overseas Pakistan Commission with the Association of Physicians and Surgeons UK and is a key leader of the World Congress of Pakistanis. He was welcomed by Commissioner OPC Syed Khadim Abbas, Director General Ishrat ullah Khan Niazi and other senior officers and staff upon his arrival at the OPC office here today. The Commissioner OPC introduced the senior officers and staff to the Vice Chair. Later, the Vice Chair along with the Commissioner OPC inspected various sections of the OPC office and was also given a detailed briefing on the affairs of the OPC.
