OPC Delegation calls on advisor to prime minister on finance Dr Miftah Ismail

A delegation of Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab, comprising of Vice Chairperson Shaheen Khalid Butt,  Commissioner Afzaal Bhatti, and DG  Syed Javed Iqbal Bokhari called on the Advisor to the Prime Minister on Finance, Revenue and Economic affairs, Dr Miftah Ismail and apprised him about enhancement of withholding tax on Overseas Pakistanis, discrimination in Tax Amnesty scheme and other issues faced by expatriate Pakistanis. Dr Miftah Ismail assured the OPC delegation that relevant policies will be reviewed and necessary steps would be taken in the next fiscal year’s budget to provide maximum relief to the Overseas Pakistanis.

He further said that Overseas Pakistanis are making valuable contribution in the economy of the country through their remittances and Federal Government is committed to provide maximum facilities to them. Dr Miftah Ismail also lauded the efforts of OPC in resolving the issues faced by Overseas Pakistanis and said that OPC is endeavouring hard to secure the rights of Pakistanis living abroad. Shaheen Khalid Butt and Afzaal Bhatti also apprised the Advisor to Prime Minister about the complaint redressal mechanism and told that OPC is striving to resolve the problems of expatriates through state of the art web portal system. They further told that in a short span of time, OPC has achieved many milestones and putting in all efforts to resolve the issues of Overseas Pakistanis.

Matters pertaining to heavy taxation in Real Estate Business, Particularly affecting the Overseas Pakistanis and other issues were also discussed in detail during the meeting.
